CBCT (3D cone beam computed tomography)

A CBCT dental scan is an advanced imaging technology that allows Dr. Foss to evaluate underlying bone structures, nerve pathways and surrounding soft tissues of the teeth. A CBCT is performed in a similar manner to a panoramic radiograph, but can capture up to 200 images compiled into a single 3D image in less than a minute. CBCT scans use significantly less radiation than traditional CT scans. Dr. Foss recommends a CBCT scan for all patients prior to dental implant placement. CBCT scans are also a great resource for determining other potential dental issues such as tooth decay, bone loss, abnormal growths, facial fractures, periodontal infections, irregularities of the temporomandibularjoint (TMJ) and problems with the tooth roots or dental pulp..
